40% of the Indian population is employed, yet, only 9% of women are a part of the workforce.
The Bandma Ferde Foundation is a nonprofit organisation that works to empower women, creating an opportunity for them to earn
a livelihood by learning the techniques of stitching.

The unfortunate low rate of literacy in Jhinjhana inspired us to do something for the people of our hometown, especially women. In
2008, We decided to convert our ancestral home into a charitable stitching school where we provide women of all ages the
opportunity to gain financial independence. We also donate sewing machines to promising young girls and to those who get married,
in order to encourage them to earn an independent stream of income for themselves.
In the future, we also aim to establish a school for the children of Jhinjhana, Shamli and do our bit to help improve literacy.
